Literacy Through Hip Hop – “Revolutionizing Literacy”

>

WHO WE ARE

Literacy Through Hip Hop is an innovative literacy program for children in grade six to eight. The program uses the popular youth culture of hip hop, specifically hip hop music, as a means to engage children about their reading and writing. Our aim is to improve the literacy skills of children in this crucial stage in their development by connecting it with something that many young people are interested in and excited about. We also have another announcement to be made at http://www.wellhome.com where you can learn about home energy assessments and how you can schedule your assessment to begin saving energy.

Unequal Opportunity:
Juxtaposing Race, Poverty & Education

We have constructed a pamphlet with information regarding this campaign. The goal is to give students, from all walks of life, the means to have their voices be heard regarding their experiences at different levels/types of education. A website will soon be uploaded to facilitate this campaign. We are looking for community volunteers and partners. Check out the pamphlet for more information. This campaign will be officially launched soon.

Click on the poster in order to enter the website.

See all the artistic pieces that our talented students have produced last year and soon we will post the ones from the current school year. A link would soon be available permanently on the front page.

Congratulations to all the 2007-2008 LTHH graduates!

Without the dedication of all our volunteers, staff members, instructors, parents and all of the LTHH kids none of this would have been possible!
